Traditional South Indian Coconut Chutney β Simple, Fresh & Flavorful π₯₯β¨π


Coconut Chutney, also known as Thengai Chutney or Nariyal Chutney, is a classic South Indian side dish that perfectly complements idli, dosa, vada, pongal, and uttapam π₯π½οΈ.
Made with fresh coconut, green chillies, and roasted chana dal, this chutney is creamy, mildly spicy, and incredibly aromatic.

Ingredients
Grated Coconut β Β½ cup (125 ml)
Green Chillies β 3β5
Ginger β Β½ inch
Roasted Chana Dal (Chutney Dal) β β cup (30 ml)
Salt β as per taste
Water β Β½ glass
Preparation Method
In a mixer jar, add Β½ cup grated coconut, 3β5 green chillies, and Β½ inch ginger.
Close the lid and grind into a smooth and fine paste.

For Tempering (Tadka)
Oil β 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds β Β½ tsp
Urad Dal β Β½ tsp
Chana Dal β Β½ tsp
Red Chilli β 1
Curry Leaves β 1 bunch
Grinding the Chutney
β cup roasted chana dal (chutney dal), Salt as per taste, and Β½ glass of water.




Heat a kadai on medium flame.


Pour 1 tbsp oil.
add Β½ tsp mustard seeds, Β½ tsp urad dal, and Β½ tsp chana dal.








Once the dals turn golden brown, add


Mix well and immediately pour the tempering over the prepared chutney.
