How to make Dal Rasam Quickly at Home Using Rasam Powder

Ingredients:

Tamarind - small lemon size

Boiled Tur dal - Β½ cup

Oil - 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds (Rai) - Β½ tsp

Cumin seeds (Jeera) - Β½ tsp

Hing - (Asafoetida) - 1 tsp

Curry leaves - 1 bunch

Tomato - 2

Green chilli - 1

Crushed garlic - 5 -8 cloves

Salt - to taste

Turmeric - Β½ tsp

Rasam powder - 1 tbsp

Jaggery - 1 tsp

Coriander leaves - Β½ cup

Preparation Method:

Wash the tamarind and soak it with some water

Close with the lid and keep it aside.

In a pan, pour 1 tbsp of oil,

Fry Β½ tsp of mustard seeds (rai),

1 tsp of hing (asafoetida)

One bunch of curry leaves,

Add chopped tomatoes, and fry for 2 min

Add Β½ tsp of turmeric,

Add rasam powder and mix well.

Add half lemon sized jaggery

Add Crushed garlic and one green chilli,

1 tsp of cumin seeds (jeera) mix well.

Add half a cup of dal and some water,

Mix well and close with a lid cook for 5 minutes.

Tamarind pulp, and a glass of water

Add salt as per taste

Coriander leaves, and cook till it boils.

Once boiled, switch off the stove. Serve hot with rice.

That's it. Your "Dal Rasam" is ready.
