How to make Healthy Tomato Rasam | Tamarind Tomato Rasam | Easy Quick Rasam
The Most Healthy, Popular and Traditional South Indian staple dish.


Tomato Rasam/Thakkali Rasam, is the most healthy, popular & traditional South Indian staple dish, prepared with fresh and well riped tomatoes, garlic, tamarind and spices. Served along with rice or even as a soup. Absolutely Delicious.
Ingredients:
Tamarind - small lemon size
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds (Rai) - Β½ tsp
Cumin seeds (Jeera) - Β½ tsp
Hing - (Asafoetida) - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 bunch
Tomato - 2
Green chilli - 1
Crushed garlic - 5 -8 cloves
Salt - to taste
Turmeric - ΒΌ tsp
Rasam powder - 1 tbsp
Jaggery - Β½ tsp
Coriander leaves - Β½ cup


Preparation Method:


In a bowl, Wash the tamarind and soak it in hot water and keep it aside.


In a mixer jar, add tomatoes. 5-6 garlic cloves, 1 tbsp rasam powder & grind to a fine paste

In a pan, pour 1 tbsp of oil,


Fry Β½ tsp of mustard seeds (rai)


1 tsp of cumin seeds (jeera) mix & fry well


1 tsp of hing (asafoetida)


One bunch of curry leaves, One green chilli slit in 2


Add two pieces of Crushed garlic.


Add ΒΌ tsp turmeric, mix & fry for 2 minutes


Add the grounded tomato puree mix


Add two glasses of water


Salt as per taste


Mix well and add tamarind pulp


Add jaggery and coriander leaves.


Cook till it boils. Switch off the stove and Close it with a lid




Serve the tomato rasam hot with rice.


That's it. Your "Tomato Rasam" is ready.
