How to make Nei Appam | Traditional Ghee Appam | Sweet Appam

Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup (250 ml)
Urad dal - Β½ tbsp
Jaggery - Β½ cup (125ml)
Ripe Banana - Β½ cup (125ml)
Coconut - Β½ cup (125ml)
Cardamom powder - ΒΌ tsp


Preparation Method:
Add 1 cup (250 ml) of rice and half a tbsp of urad dal to a bowl.
Rinse thoroughly and soak for 3 - 4 hours.

Once it is well soaked




till you get a grainy texture


then add Β½ cup (125ml) of jaggery and grind till it becomes a thick paste




then add Β½ cup (125ml) of coconut and ΒΌ tsp of cardamom powder


Grind nicely till the batter turns soft and thin. (Soft & smooth as honey)




Once the batter grinds to soft, collect it in a bowl, close it with a lid and keep aside for 2 - 3 hours.






Let the batter set to ferment.


That's it. Your "Nei Appam" is ready.

Then pour the batter


Add little water if required
Next, add a well ripe Β½ cup (125ml) Of Banana and grind










collect the rice in a mixer jar and dry grind




After 3 hours, heat the paniyaram pan. Once heated, turn the flame to medium-low add 1 tsp of ghee & 1 tsp of oil to each hole
Note:- Usually, Appam cook only with ghee.
fry both sides nicely.






collect in a bowl and enjoy.
