How to make Ragi Bonda | Nachni pakoda | healthy staters

A healthy and popular recipe in the kongunad region of Tamil Nadu.

Ragi (Nachini) Vadai /Bonda /Finger Millet Bonda, is a healthy and popular recipe in the kongunad region of Tamil Nadu. Made with millet and rice flour, crispy outside and soft inside. A perfect Protein snack that is not heavy on your waist and compliments well with an evening tea. Which is absolutely fabulous and tastes Yummy.

Ingredients:

Ragi/Finger Millet flour - 1 & Β½ cups

Rice flour - Β½ cup

Onion (chopped) - 2 No

Green chilli (chopped) - 2-4

Coriander & curry leaves (chopped) - 1 cup

Cooking soda powder - ΒΌ tsp

Salt - as per taste

Jeera - 1 tsp

Oil - 1 tbsp

Preparation Method:

In a bowl, sieve ragi (nachni) 1 & Β½ cups rice flour Β½ cup with a strainer.

Add two chopped onions

2-4 chopped green chillies,

1 cup of chopped coriander & curry leaves,

ΒΌ tsp of cooking soda,

Salt as per taste, one tbsp of oil

1 tsp of jeera

Add little by little water to it and mix to form a thick batter.

Once mixed, close with a lid and rest for 10-15 minutes.

In a Kadai, pour the oil required. Once the oil is heated, slowly drop the ragi batter into the oil

Turn over in between and deep fry the bondas.

That's it. Your "Ragi bonda/ vada" is ready.
