Ingredients
  • Toor Dal (Tur Dal) – 250 g

  • Ghee – 1 tbsp

  • Oil – 1 tbsp

  • Mustard Seeds (Rai) – Β½ tsp

  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera) – 1 tsp

  • Hing (Asafoetida) – 1 tsp

  • Red Chilli – 1

  • Curry Leaves – 1 bunch

  • Garlic (chopped) – 5–8 cloves

  • Green Chillies (chopped) – 3

  • Onion – 1

  • Tomato – 2

  • Salt – to taste

  • Turmeric Powder – Β½ tsp

  • Cumin Powder (Jeera Powder) – Β½ tbsp

  • Red Chilli Powder – ΒΌ tsp

  • Coriander Leaves – Β½ cup

Preparation Method

Take toor dal in a pressure cooker, wash it thoroughly, and soak it for 30 minutes.

Once soaked, add two glasses of water and 1 teaspoon salt.

Close the lid and pressure cook until you hear two whistle sounds.

Add salt as per taste, keeping in mind that 1 teaspoon salt was already added while cooking the dal.

Now add the boiled toor dal along with one glass of water, mix well, and cook for 5–10 minutes.

Add Β½ teaspoon turmeric powder and cumin powder.

Then add ΒΌ teaspoon red chilli powder and cook for 2 minutes.
