Mushroom Biryani is a delicious and aromatic vegetarian biryani made with basmati rice, fresh mushrooms, and flavorful Indian spices. This classic biryani is perfect for lunch boxes, family dinners, or special occasions π.

Ingredients
Basmati Rice β 1 cup (250 ml)
Oil β 2 tbsp
Ghee (Clarified Butter) β 2 tbsp
Coconut Oil β 1 tbsp
Bay Leaf (Tej Patta) β 1
Cinnamon (Dalchini) β 1 inch
Cloves (Laung) β 4
Star Anise (Chakra Phool) β 1
Mace (Jai Pathri) β 1
Black Stone Flower (Pathar Phool) β 1
Black Cardamom (Kali Elaichi) β 1
Onion (thinly sliced) β ΒΌ kg
Ginger Garlic Paste β 1 Β½ tbsp
Pepper β Β½ tsp
Biryani Masala β 1 tsp
Garam Masala β Β½ tsp
Chilli Powder β Β½ tbsp
Salt β as per taste
Green Chilli β 1
Curd β 2 tbsp
Mushroom (sliced) β 400 g
Mint Leaves β 1 cup (6 tbsp)
Coriander Leaves β 1 cup
Water β 2 cups (500 ml)

Prepared using basmati rice, mushrooms, fresh herbs, and traditional spices, this mushroom biryani is both healthy and mouthwateringβeasy enough to make at home in just a few simple steps π½οΈβ¨.
In this recipe, letβs see how to make authentic mushroom biryani at home.
Prepare the Rice
Take 1 cup of basmati rice in a bowl.
Rinse thoroughly under running water.
Add 1 cup of water, cover with a lid, and soak for 10 minutes.
Roast the Spices
In a pressure pan or cooker, add 2 tbsp oil, 2 tbsp ghee and 1 tbsp coconut oil.


Once the oil is hot, add 1 Bay leaf, 1-inch cinnamon stick, and 4 cloves.
1 star anise, add 1 mace
1 black stone flower, add 1 black cardamom.
Roast until the spices release a fragrant aroma πΏ.
Cook the Masala
Add thinly sliced onions and 1 Β½ tbsp ginger garlic paste and mix well..
Add spices: Β½ tsp pepper, and 1 tsp biryani masala.
Β½ tsp garam masala, Β½ tbsp chilli powder and Salt to taste.
Add 1 green chilli and 2 tbsp curd, mix gently.
Add Mushrooms and Rice
Add 400 g sliced mushrooms and combine with the masala.
Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan.
Mix carefully to coat the rice with the spices.
Cook the Biryani
Add 2 cups (500 ml) water and mix.
Add 1 cup mint leaves and bring to a boil.
Taste and adjust salt and spices if needed.
Cover with lid. Once steam starts releasing from the cooker, put on the weight and cook the rice.
Garnish & Serve
Once the pressure drops, open the lid.
Add chopped coriander leaves and a bunch of mint leaves.
Gently mix the biryani to fluff the rice and combine flavors.
